Paul Green School of Rock

  • The Paul Green School of Rock Music is a nationally known, after school music program for kids 8-17 years old.  We provide instruction in Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboard and Vocals.  Our instructors are all working rock musicians in the region and each has earned critical acclaim in his/her own way. We are, at the core, a formal music school, focused on music theory and rudiments. At our schools, however, this takes the form of applied music theory, and shows are selected to demonstrate various ideas in practice.   The school has developed a program that helps kids reach their potential musically using a rock music curriculum.  The formula is designed to take advantage of the added motivation created by performance as well as the accountability that is fostered by a “team environment.”      The school uses a coaching philosophy that motivates and captivates, employing a very specific curriculum created to help each school advance its program in such a way as to ensure great performances, teach important lessons and show the significance (or sometimes insignificance) of special genres to the world of Rock Music.   It’s not the performance aspect that sets us apart, but rather the focus on great rock music performances.  That’s the goal we strive to achieve.  When the Paul Green School of Rock Music’s methods and formulas are followed this goal can be reached by those who are willing to make the commitment.  Students range in age from 8 - 17.  In ability they range from beginner to extremely advanced.  Students are given individual instruction once a week for 45 minutes on their instruments. The rehearsals are three hours in length and allow students to practice their songs with the other cast members as well as bond with their peers who all share their common interest in rock music.  The Shows serve as the ultimate motivator.  If a student does not practice enough for their first show, they certainly will for their second. Who does not want to be amazing in front of 200-300 people that routinely attend our shows?   Our goal at the school is two-fold:  to help our students realize their amazing potential as artists and then to put them on stage in front of as many people as possible.  Our curriculum includes a weekly 45-minute one-to-one lesson with an instructor and a weekly three-hour rehearsal.  Once a quarter our students perform a rock concert in a real rock venue with a real rock music crowd.       “If you do not tell kids what they cannot do, they may never learn,” says our founder Paul Green.
