Mounds Park Academy Reviews

The best scool ever! i am so proud to go here!

The music programs are, without a doubt, great. But because of the small class sizes there is little competition. It's got a great program for all the adcadmics.

MPA has been the best experience for our family. My children have thrived in this wonderful environment! While the tuition is high, the education my children have received is top notch. It is not a school for the 'wealthy' only. The small class sizes, the feeling of community, the language and arts programs, hands on learning, and so much more, make MPA stand out from the rest. The level of parent involvement completely depends on the parent. MPA has many, many opportunities to volunteer if you are able. If you can't volunteer, you are not made to feel 'guilty'. Magazines drives, candy sales, plant sales. Whatever the fundraiser, there are no requirements, only opportunities.

I love this school. It has a great bond with everyone there and the teachers are amazing

We've now been at MPA for 6 years. Especially starting in 4th grade, you get your money out of this school. The small classes, great teachers/staff and strong academic focus including world language, arts, music, drama - all beginning as early as Kindergarten allows for an amazing learning environment. We love that MPA offered full-day Kindergarten and that our children can be at the same school PreK thru 12! Parents are very involved and lend a supporting hand continuously at MPA. The only downside we've felt at MPA is the significant amount of fund raising (especially in the past few years) needed to support their campus growth efforts. Overall we are very happy and our child would be heart broken if we told her she had to go someplace else!

I am actually a middle schooler at MPA. I think one thing that makes our school so different it that we feel like a true family. everyone is accepting and always has something nice to say. i have been here since kindergarten and proud of it! i would definitely recommend this school. we also have some new facilities you might want to check out!!

I disagree with reviewers that advocate that the school instills few values. While there are students who live in a place other than the real world, many maintain a firm grasp of what really is going on. The academic programs the school offers are great - however the small size of the school stops it from offering a variety of classes and programs, so if one's child is very gifted in a certain activity, I'd look elsewhere. However, MPA sends a disproportionately large number of kids to the All State Programs, and does very well in the arts (MPA has some of the best speech coaches in the state). The school's small student population translates to having quality of programs dictated by student interest (usually). For the unmotivated child, MPA is great because it surrounds the child with very motivated students. For students with specialized interests, check out Eastview/Applevalley/Eagan.

My children have been at MPA for 4 years and we couldn't be happier. It is a college prep school that knows how to think outside the box. The teachers are creative with their curriculum and assignments. In addition to the core subjects, my chldren have foreign language daily and have Drama, Art, Music, Computer and Library every other day. The classes sizes are small and the teachers are caring and passionate. My children have been taught to be independent and responsible students. The entire school (PK - 12) is in one building which makes the transition of moving up a grade each year very smooth. The teachers know exactly what my children learned the year before and can build on it. This also creates many opportunities for older and younger children to work and learn together. While there are some wealthy families most are just everyday people.

The current base tuition actually ranges from $13.2k to $15.6k. It's a good school, no doubt. Most families are filthy rich, giving the school generous support. My son was there for a year but we pulled him out after realizing that there was no logical fit for him there. However, if you would like to be with the rich and famous, this is the place.

This is a fabulous school! This is our 9th year. The teaching staff is outstanding. They truly care about your child. The academics are rigorous and expectations are high in the Middle and Upper School levels. Parents are very involved in the school but there are no requirements and everyone respects each person's ability to donate time. MPA is a small school and provides so many opportunities for success! The world languages programs start in Kindergarten and are excellent. The school 'fits' many personalities. My daughter is so quiet and shy - her initial goal at school was to participate in class. This past year she tried out for, and performed, a solo at the vocal concert. What a triumph! My son is more outgoing and athletic and struggles to decide which things to do! You will be asked for donations beyond tuition - like all private/independent schools.

This is my childs first year at MPA. We are so happy with the school and it was definately the right choice. The tuition is steep but has been well worth the sacrifice. The academic programs are top notch with a warm, nurturing environment. The enrichment programs are awesome. The theater productions and drama classes will knock your socks off, the language dept. is excellent. Parental involvement is whatever you want it to be. Your child should be an advanced student who is very interested in school. This is an excellent school and we will send our child all the way thru.

The level of parent involvement is way too high! If you don't help, your child feels the effect. Money, money money...they will ask for a lot more than the 12,000 tuition. Language program is the BEST! Overall, if you are loaded, and can pay for a grade this is the place for you. If you want values for your child, go else where!
